How to use a code at Amazon

2. Get your basket — or your booking — through to the payment step as usual.
3. Paste the code into the promotional-code box and apply it before you confirm — most sites will not add one afterwards.

Check three things before you pay

• The minimum spend. Plenty of offers only open up above a set total, and the box simply refuses the code below it.
• What is left out. Anything already reduced is the usual exception, and a handful of brands and gift cards are often excluded too.
• The end date. Where Amazon has published one, it is shown on the offer; where it has not, the checked date is the better guide.

Why a code sometimes will not work

Almost always a condition rather than a broken code: one code at a time, a first-order offer used on a second, a region the promotion does not cover, or an account that has already redeemed it. It is worth reading the offer’s terms before giving up on it — where two offers apply, the larger one is not always the one that survives the basket rules.
